Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos is the younger son of famous pianist, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos. First he studied at the department of classical music of the Academy of Music in Basel (Switzerland), then he moved to the department of jazz.

In 2003 he arrived at the most important stage in his career being given the opportunity to record with two world famous musicians, the drummer Jack De Johnette and the bassist John Patitucci. Since then he has played with several outstanding musicians like Reggie Johnson, Keith Copland, Tony Lakatos, Alvin Queen, Erik Truffaz and Peter Bernstein.
